SABA-SC Newsletter

December 2011 Edition

A Message From SABA-SC

Public Interest Foundation

Co-Presidents:

Happy Holidays from the SABA-SC Public Interest Foundation!

With the new year around the corner, we are excited about what the Foundation has planned!  The Foundation recently started a legal clinic connecting attorneys to members of the South Asian-American community who need such services.  As a result of the Foundation’s September clinic focusing on citizenship, the South Asian Network has received inquiries for additional assistance

Accordingly, the Foundation plans to host another citizenship seminar in the coming months.  Additionally, the Foundation will be hosting clinics focusing on worker’s rights and immigration.  Please express your interest by contacting any Foundation Board member or the Clinic Chair, Sana Muttalib, atsabapif@gmail.com.

Further, the Foundation is also proud to announce its 2012 Award Recipients in this newsletter. These distinguished individuals will be honored at the Foundation’s Ninth Annual Banquet, which will be held in March 2012 at a location to be announced.  The Annual Banquet is the Foundation’s primary source of fundraising, supporting the Foundation’s operations to provide grants to local community organizations and to law students furthering the public interest.  Additionally, the Annual Banquet has served as the South Asian-American bar’s forum to honor leaders in our procession.  We hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Puneet Kakkar & Sapna Jain
