| Over the last two months, SABA-SC has presented 4 events for our members and the South Asian community. SABA-SC started its new term with its Fall Networking Mixer which took place at Ciudad on August 21, 2008. The event was a huge success with over 60 people in attendance. Shortly thereafter, SABA-SC sponsored its Law Student Welcome Mixer, which took place on September 18, 2008, and over 120 lawyers and law students attended. SABA-SC subsequently hosted a screening of “Divided We Fall,” the world renowned documentary affecting the South Asian community. Winner of more than a dozen international awards, “Divided We Fall” documented incidents of racism and fear that gripped the South Asian community following the September 11, 2001 terrorism attack. The event garnered a large attendance and was followed by a distinguished panel discussion following the screening. Finally, SABA-SC hosted an evening with Holly Fujie, the new State Bar of California President, less than one week after being sworn in as the Bar’s 84th leader. The event was well attended by young lawyers, law students and those distinguished in the Southern California legal community. |
